The Wespray team recently travelled 750kms North East of Perth to the Shire Of Meekatharra. The project included applying a new herringbone paver look and artwork to the recently renewed median islands through the centre of town.
The Meekatharra Streetscape Art Project enhances the town’s main street with bold pavement murals by local Indigenous artists. These murals depict local heritage and are inspired by community submissions.
The project also improves streetscape amenities with street furniture and bike parking. Our inspiration was based around celebrating Meekatharra’s unique heritage and create a visually stunning experience for residents and visitors.
This project’s scope also included some mural artwork to be applied with our extremely durable cement resurfacing system. The murals were designed by a local indigenous artist depicting local heritage with a pastoral, mining and indigenous theme.
As the photos show Wespray were able to use some vibrant colourings to emphasise the backgrounds and highlight the detail in the artists’ work.
This Streetscape art project is a partnership with the Shire Of Meekatharra and the RAC Reconnect WA initiative, which aims to create vibrant streets and public spaces for Western Australians to interact and connect with one another.
